Surrey Hills

Award Winner 2013

The client’s brief was quite simple. They required a landscape that would fit with the renovation, utilising materials complimentary to the classic charm of the Edwardian style of the home.

As the owners wanted to be able to sit on their front porch for breakfast and enjoy the morning sun, privacy was a key requirement. Therefore, the idea of a water feature was introduced.  The natural fall of the land runs across the property which gave Erin the idea of a raised feature pond, where water would bubble up and flow across a stone spillway. The water runs over several of these spillways, culminating in a sunken pond next to the driveway.  Low voltage lighting was used throughout the ponds and creek bed to pick up the movement of the water in the evening.

Erin’s horticultural background helped ensure the correct plants were chosen to compliment both the age of the home and the garden’s style.

Description

The home required a massive restoration internally, as well as a 22sq extension and outdoor entertaining area to be added to the property.
As the façade of the existing home was restored first, the Nature’s Best crew was able to design and construct the front yard before the extension commenced.
